Most Popular Window Blinds and Shades for 2020 and 2021



Cellular Shades, also known as honeycomb shades, led the way through 2020. Some of the more popular subcategories for cell shades were the top-down/bottom-up feature and motorization. Interior Plantation Shutters are not far behind and one other advantage of adding custom window shutters to your home is the value it adds. Plantation Shutters are the only window treatment that actually adds to the value of your home and can add to your appraisal, similar to your kitchen countertops and build-it bookcases. They are considered "fixtures".

There are also some other window blinds and shades that are newer to the market and definitely worth a look. They include 2" Fabric Blinds (the slats are made of fabric with a wire at the front and back to keep them rigid) and Zebra Shades, also known as "Dual Shades". We're confident the Zebra Window Shades will be one of the more popular window shade products going into 2022 too.

And lastly, motorization. If any area in the window coverings has taken off, it's definitely motorization. Back in the day, motorization with very expensive, limited in options and very few offered it. These days there are motor and automation options for pretty much every type of window shade and blind on the market. You can choose from battery-powered with rechargeable Lithion Ion battery packs, 110 hardwired motorization and more.
